Current C-based xlator is significantly faster than SKILL xlator!
- This DFII-IC shape-based router supports all sizes of CDBA data
- It’s data-transfer rate is fast (tested at 174x faster)
- e.g., large 29 hour test case -> 10 minutes!
What affects the data-transfer rate?
- Running foreground, vs. background affects data transfer rate
- (e.g., C-based translator in foreground is fastest of all translators)
- 20-30 second overhead to initialize DFII database in background mode
- For very small designs that took less than 30 seconds using the original SKILL translator, a slight increase in translation time may be encountered
- Depth settings have a direct effect on translation time
- (ie # of hierarchical levels traversed to establish connectivity, e.g., 20 is large)
- Auto-abstracts translation rules defined by the user
